The Holy Bible is a collection of prophetic texts, histories, and letters. God used many different authors from many different eras to pen his authoritative Word. The Bible’s “books” are gathered into what we call the “canon” — a uniquely unified record of salvation history. How were the books of the Bible gathered into the book we use today? What about other “religious writings” (both Jewish and Christian) from the ancient world? How do critics challenge our view of the Bible? What about the transmission and translation of the biblical text? These and other questions will frame a profitable discussion about God's inspired Word.
